Community Service

Troop 1282 participates in regularly scheduled service projects. The Troop sponsors 6 (six) service activities per year – 4 (four) street clean up’s approximately three months apart and 2 (two) involving Scouting for Food. A scout will be expected to participate in at least 2 (two) of these activities in the 12 (twelve) months prior to a long term camp. Service records will be kept by the Service Chairman and/or the Advancement Chairman. Other service opportunities are scheduled throughout the year. Each participating Scout will receive service hours for those Troop projects. Scouts are encouraged to participate in other service projects outside the Troop. The Scout needs to notify the Service Chairman prior to volunteering in a service project to obtain credit for these hours. Service hours to be used for rank advancement must also be preapproved by the SM.
